An 81-mile loop around the big lake takes you from Laconia, Meredith, Center Harbor, Ossipee Mountain area to Wolfeboro, and Finally landing you in Alton Bay. The 81-mile (give or take) Lake Winnipesaukee Scenic Drive follows a series of highways and back roads through the scenic countryside on the north shores of Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesaukee and around the Ossipee Mountains and through all the small towns along this central New Hampshire GEM. The lakes are the glistening centerpieces of the lovely Lakes Country, a region of rolling hills dotted with 273 lakes and ponds, including 30 that are more than 100 acres in size.
