Lake Winnipesaukee and the NH Lakes Region
 |
WELCOME TO LAKE WINNIPESAUKEE
Lakes Region
NEW HAMPSHIRE, USA
|
Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in the state of New Hampshire and the 6th largest lake in the United States that lies within the boundaries of one state. Surrounded by three mountain ranges, the wooded shoreline and crystal clear water of this spring-fed lake make it a popular year round Lakes Region resort, a place to rest and relax in beautiful surroundings. Viewing the lake from nearby Mt Major offers one of the best vantage points to seeing a great portion of this spectacular lake. Winter is here. There is much to do here in the lakes region once the snow falls. Skiing, Hiking, Snow Mobiles, and the Ice Fishing is great once the lakes freeze. With so much to do around the lakes region why would you want to go anywhere else for fun. Fall is over in the Lakes Region, and winter has begun. The many towns around the lake have lots going on. Alton Bay, Weirs Beach, Meredith, and Wolfeboro have many fine restaurants and shops to still visit. Nightlife is not to spectacular but close by cities like Concord can offer a great break from the casual days on the frozen lake. Traffic can be busy around the lake especially during the weekends so plan your stay well.
One of the first adventures most take upon arriving in the lakes region is the trip around Lake Winnipesaukee. The 63 plus mile drive depending upon traffic could take many hours due to the 8 towns and 2 counties you need to drive through. But the trip is worth it and you are sure to find many treasures and exciting stops. The overlooks are beautiful and the towns are all unique! From the oldest resort in America, Wolfeboro - to Weirs Beach, Laconia I am sure this website will help you to find the perfect lakes region vacation.
Winter is here so if you haven't taking the trip around the lake on the M/S Mt Washington I am afraid you'll have to wait till next spring on after ice out. Of course during the winter you can, if safely navigating the lake on the Ice, you can still explore the scenery of the Big Lake. The sites, sounds, and beauty of "Winnipiseogee" will keep you coming back year after year, Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall. Check out these links for future trips. Laconia Bike Week, NH Nascar, Hot Air Balloon Festival, Boat Racing, Concerts, Ice Fishing Derby's "the Winni Derby", the Lakes Region of New Hampshire has it all, AND MORE!
Check out our FREE streaming music from SKY FM, listen to it at work, in the home, where ever you can get internet service, enjoy the photo gallery, and most certainly check out all the info and links to all the region has to offer. Hospitals, schools, emergency services can all be found right here! and don't forget to drop us a note. We would love to hear from you.
